Malabrigo Quickies: Dissipative by Alicia Landi

This week’s Quickie will have you daydreaming about summer (but keeping warm in the meantime in cozy Twist)- introducing the Dissipative cowl by Alicia Landi!

Large size, in Natural and Indiecita Twist

Alicia says:

A dissipative beach is wide with a gentle slope, which allows waves to slowly wash over the beach face as they lose energy. The stitch pattern for the edge of this cowl is reminiscent of such long, undulating waves washing up onto a textured shore. The wonderfully dense feel of the Malabrigo Twist yarn makes this cowl extra squishy and warm in both sizes. Using less than one full skein of yarn in two colors, it is a great way to pair a highly variegated colorway with a coordinating solid or neutral, or utilize limited amounts of leftovers or handspun yarn.

The cowl is knit from the bottom up in the round. The garter stitch stripes of this cowl can be knit without purling using a little trick explained in the pattern notes. The large size is long enough to wear scarf-like or wrapped twice around the neck. The small size is a typical cowl and stands about 1.5 inches taller than the large.

What are Malabrigo Quickies?

Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.
