See it Knit – Playa

Playa is the Spanish word for ‘beach’ – the beachy tones in our Playa colorway are reminiscent of a moody, stormy beach, or maybe a late fall beach. Maybe not the best time for sunbathers, but sometimes just the right time of year to sit on a blanket, snuggled up in thick sweaters and reading a book with the sounds of the ocean. This is one of the multicolors, so rather than being variegated and ‘striping’ or ‘pooling’, Playa knits up for an overall gently watery fabric, making it the perfect thing to add extra depth to plain stockinette, or intense shadows for cables. Available in Sock and Rios, some people are already making lovely things with this fairly new colorway!

I love this! Bought it for an entrelac shawl because I had a dream about it, and it reminds me of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” No purple, but the feeling is there.

Thanks for posting this. I have a skein of Playa sock in my stash that I’ve set aside for a pair of socks, but I may have to reconsider that!
