Quickies: Spoke by Tanja Fleischer

Today’s Quickie is a snazzy hat with all sorts of ways to customize: here’s Spoke by Tanja Fleischer!

Spoke in Rios in Lavanda

Spoke in Rios in Lavanda

Tanja says:

I’ve wanted to design a hat for ages, but inspiration never quite struck. But as I walked home from my LYS, my mind still on the new skein of Rios in Lavanda in my bag, I passed dozens of bikes waiting for their owners while my own bike quietly rattled beside me. As I mounted my bike the wheels in my head started turning too, and a design was born!
Spoke is a modern swirly hat that takes only one skein of Malabrigo Rios and is knitted up in no time. It can be knitted in various styles, sizes and fabric options, as well as choosing the direction of the swirl, making for a total of 16 possible hats in just one pattern. A double-sided brim keeps your ears warm even as you cruise around town. A semi-solid or solid colorway works best for this hat – but the bold rib pops nicely enough if you, like me, just love to use the gorgeous variegated colors of Malabrigo.

What are Malabrigo Quickies?

Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.

MFPP: Sweets for All Seasons by Laura Brown

And now, our third and final MFPP for August, by the talented Laura Brown!

Laura says:

This collection was inspired by the look and feel of ice cream: the girl’s dress and hoodie by the swirling of two colors in a double scoop, the boy’s hoodie and vest by the lattice pattern on the cone. Since I consider ice cream a year-round treat, I wanted there to be a pattern that would work for each of the different seasons.

Sugar Cone Vest in Worsted, in Stone Blue and Coco

For the first month of its release (until September 20th) you can use coupon code “4SWEETS” on Ravelry to receive 10% off! Use the savings to treat yourself to a cone 😉

It’s all so cute! After this month of sugary adorableness, children of knitters everywhere should be set on ice-cream-themed duds well into adulthood, hehe. Click the photos to see the individual patterns on Rav, or you can see the whole collection here. You can also browse all the MFPP patterns on our Ravelry page!

What on earth is “MFPP”?

MFPP stands for Malabrigo Freelance Pattern Project. Every month, we collaborate with an independent designer (or two) to bring you delightfully themed pattern collections! You can see past MFPP collections here or at the Ravelry link above!
