What are Malabrigo Quickies?

Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.

Malabrigo Quickies: Chrysaora by Ruth Garcia-Alcantud

Todays Quickie is a gorgeous crocheted shawlette from Rock + Purl (aka, Ruth Garcia-Alcantud.)

Ruth says…

Crochet allows a lot of fabric creativity that knitting lacks. This shawl takes advantage of an exponential growth within sections to form a wavy/flowing fabric and shape that lays flat when required but drapes, jellyfish-like, around your body when worn. Charts & Written Instructions provided.

So pretty! You can find Chrysaora on Ravelry here, or browse our past Quickies here!

(And pssst! A little bird (okay it was Twitter) told me that you can win the yarn to make this pretty lil gem- check out Ruth’s blog for more info!)

Malabrigo Quickies: Stanza by Kate Vanover

Winter’s on its way (in the Northern hemisphere, anyway) and what could be cozier than some soft & chunky Mecha around your neck? Please allow me to introduce you to Stanza!

From the designer:

“An arrangement of a certain number of lines, usually four or more, sometimes having a fixed length, meter, or rhyme scheme, forming a division of a poem.”

There’s a definite stanza to this piece, a sure rhythm and division of repeats… and like a good poem it flows together to make a coherent whole. Enjoy making your own Stanzas and in true poetic form, be free to make adjustments to the phrasing… adding either width or length to your piece.

Simple and rhythmic knitting at a large gauge means you can crank out several of these before the snow even starts falling. Even better, since it’s October Stockpile over in the Malabrigo Junkies group, you can get this pattern for 20% off until October 15th with the code “Junkielove”!

Check out Stanza on Ravelry here, or you can browse our past Quickies here!
