Annie says:

Attack from Outer Space! The ebook has all your space necessities: rayguns, rockets, space helmets, and alien robots! This four pattern set is an homage to the sci-fi movies of the 50s and 60s. Drawing from classics spanning from The Day the Earth Stood Still to Barbarella, there’s a little something for every sci-fi fan here.

Rayguns are comfortable three-fingered gloves with the image of the rayguns on both sides. Metal Man Mittens have a unique construction with the gusset and thumb worked last. The Ignition legwarmers are worked bottom up with slight shaping and a generous top cuff. Noble Hero is a snug but comfortable balaclava with a fun cushy collar.

MFPP: Mad Women by Sarah Wilson

Mad Women by Sarah Wilson

This months MFPP is called Mad Women by Sarah Wilson, (TheSexyKnitter in ravelry). She took inspiration from the 1960’s and ended up with a collection perfect for the Mad Men women. I personally love that series!

In Sarah’s own words:

My inspiration for this collection was the 1960’s. I knew I wanted to do a mod mini, a groovy sweater and some kind of outrageous headpiece. When I finished the collection, it struck me that I had unwittingly captured 3 of Mad Men’s leading ladies in knitwear, so I named the pieces after them. The cable shift just screams Joan to me. All it needs is a vintage pen necklace, and Christina Hendricks could walk right onto set in Miss Holloway! The sweater was my interpretation of a piece that Megan Draper wears in Season 5, updated just a bit for today’s ladies. The bow, well…the bow is just for fun, but it’s definitely something I could see being worn to a fancy husband’s-work-event by Betty or any of the other girls on the show.

All in all, I had a great time putting this collection together and I hope that it inspires a few people to add a little 1960’s glamour into their wardrobes!

The collection consists of three designs: a sweater, a dress and a really fun accesory for your hair. Each of the designs have two options : The bow comes in 2 sizes, Megan’s Sweater can be lengthened into a mini, and Miss Holloway contains instructions for how to modify into a tee.

Malabrigo Quickie: Auntie Gravity Hat by Jen Gall

Today’s Quickie is a cleverly brimmed colorwork hat in two colors of Rios (shown in Paris Night and Archangel.)

Jen says:

Remember going to the amusement park when you were a kid? Cotton candy, scary roller coasters, and best of all, the Gravitron, which spun you around until you felt like you were floating in mid-air, or at least your stomach was? Until the motion sickness set in, you were carefree, buoyant and full of joy. Recapture that floaty feeling as you sweep people off their feet with this cute hat, and your brain floats in a veritable Sea of Tranquility above your neck!

I love the way the semisolid and the multicolor play off each other! Dizzying! But in a good way 😉

You can see Auntie Gravity on Ravelry or browse our past Quickies!
