Malabrigo Quickie: Kaleidoscope by Kimberly Voisin

Today’s Quickie is a stunning hat by Kimberly Voisin- one which certainly resembles its namesake! Meet Kaleidoscope:

Kaleidoscope in Arroyo, colorways in Plomo and Purpuras

Kimberly says:

Kaleidoscope is the perfect knit for those gorgeous variegated skeins that are so hard to resist. The faceted texture of the hat showcases the uniqueness of multicoloured yarn while preventing the dreaded pooling effect.

This hat is created by working the brim flat and then picking up the stitches along the brim edge to work in the round. The kaleidoscope pattern of the hat is created with a slip stitch pattern which is worked in the round with 1 colour at a time. The hat can be worked in 1 colour or 2.

Such a gorgeous stitch and perfect color combo! You can find Kaleidoscope on Ravelry here, or also browse all our past Quickies here!

Malabrigo Quickies: Miramar by Sarah Roncetti

It’s 2014 and Quickies is back! Not a moment too soon for those of us trapped in this polar vortex nonsense (perfect time to stay inside and knit, no?) We’re kicking the year off with a pretty little cowl from Sarah Roncetti. Meet Miramar:

Miramar in Rios, Purpuras

Sarah says:

Miramar is a quick to knit cowl, perfect for 1-2 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted or Rios. Knit at the same gauge, the Rios will give a lovely drapey cowl, while the Worsted will result in a firmer, warmer cowl. The bias lace is a simple 2 row repeat, and knit in the round, this cowl is seamless and simple! The pattern includes hints to help you knit until you run out of yarn to maximise your yardage, and customize the length.

I’m also offering a discount for the first 48 hours (until 10pm January 9, NZT) (see Ravelry for details).

Lovely! I’ll take seven, please. All at once. That sounds mighty good right now, hehe. You can find Miramar on Ravelry here, or see all our past Quickies here!

The design is called Tyrian Loop by  Adriana Hernandez. Adriana used one skein of Arroyo in the colourway Purpuras (#872) to create this lovely cowl, that can be used as a long single loop cowl or in two loops around the neck.

The magazine will hit the newsstands on October 15th.
