Malabrigo Quickie: Oscillation Scarf by Triona Murphy

Today’s Quickie is an elegantly wavy scarf by Triona Murphy! Introducing the Oscillation Scarf:

Triona says:

A snakey cable pattern (provided in both chart and written-out form) adds texture and visual interest to this casual scarf. The pattern is easy to memorize and is good for breaking up pooling in semi-solid colorways.

What are Malabrigo Quickies?

Quickies are small, fast projects which require only one or two skeins of yarn. Approximately every two weeks we’re teaming up with a talented independent designer to present an exciting new accessory (or other “small object”) pattern, showcasing one of our many yarns and colorways.

Vivian says:

I wanted to make pretty little practical things that were simple yet also strongly reminiscent of the Nordic knitting tradition. Children’s clothes, especially, seem like a natural fit for the motifs and colors found throughout the North, so I set out to make things I would want to dress my own children in. I also tried to think of another knitter who perhaps just needed that extra gentle nudge to get into publishing, and Sorren is one of the most brilliant and imaginative knitters I know, I am so glad I could twist her arm to join me!

And Sorren added:

I felt so honored when Vivian asked me to be apart of this project. When I found out the theme would be Nordic-inspired pixieish colorwork, my mind went right to my own Scandinavian heritage, dreams of Swedish winters, and celebrating St. Lucia day with my family every year. We don’t get a lot of snow in Portland, but that won’t stop me from dreaming of snow. My son who turned 2 this year inspires me every day, and I wanted to create pieces that were classic and would suit both our little men, and our little women.
