Celebrating Malabrigo Day - October 25th
This year is very special for us: Malabrigo is celebrating its 20th anniversary. To mark the occasion, we are launching something completely new — the very first Malabrigo Day.
On October 25, knitters and crocheters around the world will gather in shops that signed up to participate, joining a global celebration of color, creativity, and community. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it, and that it becomes the start of a tradition we can share together year after year.
Why Malabrigo Day?
What started two decades ago as a small dyeing experiment in a Montevideo kitchen has grown into a yarn company embraced by makers across the globe. From the beginning, our focus has been simple: to create yarns that bring warmth, color, and inspiration to the people who use them. We’ve always believed in connecting directly with local yarn shops and the communities around them, and Malabrigo Day is our way of celebrating those bonds in a new and meaningful way.
What makes it special?
Malabrigo Day is all about discovery and delight, designed to surprise and inspire. From new yarns to pattern discounts, prizes, and more, here’s what you can expect:
Yarn Tasting Kit – Participating shops that signed up will receive kits with mini skeins of Malabrigo yarns so you can test and play with new fibers and colors.
Fiesta Box Prizes – Each Fiesta Box is packed with Malabrigo treasures: 2 skeins of our brand new yarn Vientos, a variety of stickers and pins, stitch markers, faux leather garment labels, and access to free patterns.
Pattern Discounts – On Malabrigo Day, all Malabrigo patterns on Ravelry will be available at 50% off. The Fiesta Box will also include QR codes linking directly to free patterns.
What is the Fiesta Box?
For the first Malabrigo Day, we created a special Fiesta Box exclusively for participating stores. Each store receives one of these boxes, designed to make the celebration more exciting and to give knitters and crocheters a unique experience to look forward to. Inside, you’ll find skeins of our newest yarn, Vientos, alongside exclusive Malabrigo goodies such as stickers, pins, stitch markers, faux leather labels for garments, and free patterns. It’s our way of adding an extra layer of fun, surprise, and inspiration to the day.

Share a photo of your Malabrigo Day experience on social media.
Use #MalabrigoDay if your picture was taken in a participating shop.
Use #MalabrigoFit if you wear your Malabrigo-made outfit to the shop.
You’ll automatically be entered into raffles and prize draws.
A worldwide celebration
From the very beginning, something unexpected happened: people didn’t just buy our yarn, they connected with it. They talked about it, shared it with friends, and made it part of their creative lives. That sense of community is at the heart of Malabrigo Day. When you join the celebration in person at a participating store, you’ll be part of a global gathering of craft, color, and imagination.
