Malabrigo quickies: Vesterbycrea Beanie 35

The designer, Thea, took some time to give us some details about her knitting and design process.
1: What should knitters pay attention to when working this pattern? Do you have any tips or tricks that will make knitting this pattern easier?
By using markers to divide the cable pattern it will be easy to repeat the pattern 3 times in the round.
2: What do you think knitters will enjoy the most about this project?
Cable knitting with a lot of joy – and amazing yarn.
3: What does your design process look like?
I always start with exploring new cable/lace pattern with great inspiration from books, youtube and Instagram. Then the cable/lace pattern is knitted with different yarn types – and the design phase comes into the calculation of how it should be knitted for the design in the different sizes.
4: Was there any particular inspiration you had when creating this piece?
I have designed a sweater and a neck warmer with the cable pattern and just needed to create it for a beanie too. And when I saw the Rasta yarn I just felt that this was the perfect match!
5: What is your favorite color in Malabrigo’s catalog?
I love all the once with blue and pink colours

6: What is the one thing you wish people knew about you as a designer?
The reason why I became a knitting designer; because I was very sick of stress and learned that when I started knitting in august 2019 that my brain ‘came alive again’. So now I design all my knitting patterns based on lace/cable patterns that require some brain work….simply to keep the brain work while the rest of the body and brain relaxes with the yarn between the fingers.
