MFPP: Off the Grid
It is officially Spring (even if the local weather did not get the memo!), and the latest MFPP collection features the perfect pieces for this beautiful season! Off the Grid, from Afifa Sayeed, features a Ruana, a Cowl, and a Top that all showcase a stunning slip stitch pattern. All three pieces in this collection showcase Dos Tierras, and are shown in Neverland, Alice and Fairytale, the perfect combination, but most particularly for Spring!
Afifa comes from Pakistan, was educated in Asia, Europe, and the United States, and currently resides in California. Her work is inspired by a combination of all these cultures, a fusion of classic designs elements with original details. Afifa’s designs bring a modern sensibility and a love of construction to the art of knitting.
Afifa shared a little bit about this collection with us, and we’re pleased to tell you more about these stunning pieces!
1: What is your favorite part of your Quickies design and why?
I love the slip stitch patterns incorporated throughout all three designs as they bring such a beautiful drape to each garment.
2: What should knitters pay attention to when working this pattern? Do you have any tips or tricks that will make knitting this pattern easier?
Make sure to slip the stitches with yarn in front or back as specified. Definitely knit a swatch as the woven stitch tends to grow a lot after blocking.
3: What do you think knitters will enjoy the most about this project?
It’s engaging, yet mindless in sections.
4: Was there any particular inspiration you had when creating this piece?
I was really excited about the textures that slip stitches create when used in combination with Dos Tierras.
5: What impact does the color of this project have on you? Did you make design choices based on the color way name?
I found these colors to be very soft and magical. They inspired me to create drapey, easy-to-wear designs.
We don’t think it matters which piece in this collection you knit first, they are all stunning and will add a definite pizzazz to your wardrobe!
Dos Tierras is the perfect yarn for these pieces, a lovely drape and just enough texture to make the slipped stitches sing.
