September Quickie: Trieste Cowl
It’s officially Autumn now, which means that knitting season is here again (although this year, I feel like knitting season has been all day, every day, right?) There is definitely a chill in the air now that wasn’t there a few weeks ago and I am certainly gravitating towards all the knits! Not sure what the weather is like where you are, but if you are noticing a sudden drop in temperatures as well, this month’s quickies pattern is perfect for you! The Trieste Cowl, designed by Elise Ljiko is knit up in Malabrigo Rasta, a super bulky yarn that is fabulous to work with in addition to the added bonus of knitting up super fast! With this pattern, you would be able to work up quite the collection of cowls in a multitude of colors before the first major drop in temperatures hits.
Elise says about her design, “This pattern was inspired by the Canal Grande di Trieste. Located in the heart of Trieste, Italy, the Canal Grande was built to enable ships to arrive at the city center to load and unload their goods. Through all the hustle and bustle, the waters never calm. Those moving waters inspired the moving cable like stitches that cover my cowl pattern. The repetitive slipped stitches seem to be moving across the cowl much like the rippling waters of the canal. “
This pattern is perfect for beginner to advanced knitters. The cowl is worked in a basic, but complex looking stitch pattern from to bottom edge all the way to the top. The piece is worked entirely in the round, and includes a textured border around the top and bottom. It’s easily modified to increase or decrease the length or width to match your personal preferences.
Also? There is a matching beanie pattern, the Trieste Beannie.
