January Quickies: Luca Cosmic Cowl

Happy 2022! I cannot believe that it is already time to share the first Quickies project of a new year (but I am so very happy to be sharing knitting on this extremely cold and snowy day, and just as soon as I share this project with you, I will definitely be curled up by the fireplace with my yarn, ready to knit!).

Luca Cosmic Cowl is designed by Julia of Knitt Handmade. It is designed in Mecha, and the sample features Taystee and Hannah

Julia took the time to share some special aspects of this design with us:

What should knitters pay attention to when working this  pattern? Do you have any tips pr tricks that will make knitting this pattern easier?

In my opinion the knitters or crocheters would work this pattern easily, there is a point where says ‘before star’ and there are all the tips you need to know before star crocheting your project.

What do you think knitters will enjoy the most about this project?

I really hope you love this pattern; it has two options so you can chose the one you love more, the difference between them is the combination of stitches used and you can also include different color combos so you will personalize your project.

What does your design process look like?

It has been awesome, as every time I design something it turn into an adventure, sometimes the first idea match perfectly with the final design and sometimes just not. With this Cowl I have done a perfect match, and from there I just let my mind to go deeper and found more options like the different stitches combos or playing with color combos too. I have enjoyed every minute and every stitch of this design.

Was there any particular inspiration you had when creating this piece?

There is no doubt about it, my inspiration has been the texture, getting a soft and cozy texture to be chick and warm at the same time.

What is your favorite color in Malabrigo’s catalog?

This is a very difficult answer, I love all of them, but if I have had to choose one or two, I would say ‘Indiecita’ and ‘Taystee’. One of the things I do love more about Malabrigo´s Catalog is that every skein could be different, being hand dyed skeins, each one could have a story behind. The softness and the colours are very special, it is crafting with crafty tools, could be something better?

What is the one thing you wish people knew about you as a designer?

As a designer I feel free, I try not to follow a line or a rule, I just let my mind dig into the ideas and find the way to give them a shape. I do love to try new things and incorporate my learnings to my designs.
