April Quickie: Lilluette

April showers bring pretty shawls! Well, at least the do if you are knitting with Malabrigo!

Our April Quickies pattern, Lilluette, is out today and it’s a lovely shawl designed by Julia Pradas @knitthandmade.

We had the opportunity to get Julie to share a little bit about her design and her design process with us and we are excited to share with you all.

1: What is your favorite part of your Quickies design and why?

My favorite part is the shape of the shawl and the way I has been knitted, because it was an idea long time ago, and seeing how this idea became true is amazing.

2: What should knitters pay attention to when working this pattern? Do you have any tips pr tricks that will make knitting this pattern easier?

In my opinion the knitters would work this pattern easily, the only thing where they should pay attention is at the end, the last 3 or 4 rows are important to get a nice result. Also,  the finished piece needs to be blocked, it is definitely essential.

3: What do you think knitters will enjoy the most about this project?

Knitters will love the way of construction for this shawl, and the stitch pattern, similar to diagonal clusters but without holes in between getting a different texture for you knits. Knitters will also learn how to knit a shawl using short rows.

4: What does your design process look like?

It has been awesome, as every time I design something it turn into an adventure, I made mistakes, undo the shawl, knitted more than twice and I have definitely enjoyed every minute and every stitch of this design.

5: Was there any particular inspiration you had when creating this piece?

Lilluette Shawl is inspired on night landscapes and Northern lights in between mountains. From the amazing colours to the shape is all about nature and the feeling of being part of that incredible nature.

Wearing the Lilluette Shawl will evoke the sensation of being warm and sheltered by the immensity of nature, perceiving the beautiful landscapes with which it surprises us every day.

6. What beverage are you most likely to have by your side while designing?

Oh my gosh, I do love designing with a cup of tea, trip hop music and if the night comes to me, a cup of wine could be my very best friend for a designing late night.
