Hygge Shawl KAL: A Malabrigo Caprino Knit-Along
There's something about knitting a beautiful project alongside a whole community of knitters that makes it even more special.
This time, we're embracing comfort, softness, and color with our Hygge Shawl KAL, a brand-new design by Jill Tamminen of Knit Sisu, created especially for Malabrigo Caprino. Caprino is our cashmere and merino blend, so "hygge" isn't just a mood here, it's what the yarn actually feels like against your skin.
With ten new Caprino colors just added to the palette, there's never been a better time to choose your colors and cast on.
KAL starts on September 18th.
The Hygge Shawl is a three-color design that lets Caprino's softness, delicate drape, and beautiful stitch definition shine.
Skill level: Beginner-friendly
Needle size: US 6 (4.0mm)
Finished measurements: Width: 41”/104cm - Length: 49”/124cm
Gauge: 22 sts and 32 rows / 10cm measured over St st after blocking.
The sample features Pearl, Pascal, and Neverland, using six skeins of Caprino total — two skeins of each color. But of course, we want to see your version too.
Meet the Designer
Jill Tamminen of Knit Sisu designed the Hygge Shawl for this KAL. Jill has been part of several of our KALs, and we're thrilled to be working with her again. Her designs strike a wonderful balance between engaging stitchwork and approachable construction — the kind of project you can really settle into.

We're teaming up with local yarn stores around the world for the Hygge KAL. Participating stores may be hosting their own KAL events, helping customers choose their Caprino colors, and providing support throughout the project.
If you're shopping for your Caprino, we encourage you to check with your local yarn store and see if they're taking part.
How to sign up
Registration is free, and signing up is the best way to make sure you receive the pattern and all the KAL updates.
Once you’re registered, you can choose your colors and find your local participating store. The pattern will be emailed to all registered participants closer to the KAL start date, so you’ll have everything you need to get ready to cast on.
Prizes
We’ll be giving away weekly prizes, randomly drawn from our list of registered participants.
How to Participate: To be eligible, simply complete the registration form above and share a photo of your project on social media using the hashtag #MalabrigoKAL. Please note: To qualify for prizes, your project must use the featured Malabrigo yarn for this KAL.
How winners are selected: Winners are chosen at random using a randomizing app from among the registered users. After that, our team verifies that all requirements have been met by checking the social media handles provided during sign-up. If a selected winner doesn’t meet the criteria, a new winner will be drawn until all spots are filled.
