August means that knitting season is ready to kick into full speed ahead and I for one could not be more excited! Bring on the warm knit- all the hats, mitts, sweaters, and legwarmers perfect for keeping sweater weather cozy, right? This August Quickies project is sure to help get you in the mood and it’s even a super fun Tunisian crochet project to boot!

Marjan @Hobbydinen designed this perfect autumn pair of wrist warmers. Colors of Autumn Wrist Warmers is worked up in Malabrigo Caprino in the Carnival colorway. If you haven’t yet tried Tunisian crochet, this would be a great project to give it a try.

Marjan took some time to share a little bit about this design with us:

1:What is your favorite part of your Quickies design and why?

My favorite part about my Quickies design is the knitted look of the Tunisian crochet wrist warmers. I always love creating a knitted look with crochet stitches. The colors of Malabrigo Caprino make it look so good!

2: What should Crocheters pay attention to when working this pattern? Do you have any tips or tricks that will make crocheting this pattern easier?

When you know the basic Tunisian crochet stitches, this pattern is pretty quick and simple to make. If you haven’t tried Tunisian crochet before, this is a great pattern to try it out! When you are going to make the wrist warmers, make a swatch first to check if your gauge is correct. When you have chosen the right Tunisian crochet hook according to the gauge, it is easy to make the right size wrist warmers.

3: What do you think crocheters will enjoy the most about this project?

I think crocheters will enjoy using simple tunisian crochet stitches and Malabrigo Caprino to create a beautiful pair of soft wrist warmers, that they will enjoy wearing.

4: What does your design process look like?

As a crochet and knitting pattern designer, I like to start with a mood board and theme. I draw my inspiration from colors, textures, and yarn (colors). A quick sketch helps me decide how I would like to make the new design, and what stitches I want to use. Most of the time I will start trying out different stitches, and different colors in a small swatch. When I’m happy with the swatch, I start making the design. While I’m crocheting or knitting the design, I keep notes to make it easier to write the pattern later. After making the design, I will take photos, and write the pattern.

5: What impact does the color of this project have on you? Did you make design choices based on the color way name?

The name of this design ‘Colors of Autumn Wrist Warmers’ was inspired by the colors of Malabrigo Caprino Carnival. Warmer colors are perfect for autumn accessories! These colors make me feel cozy!

6: What is the one thing you wish people knew about you as a designer?

With my crochet and knitting patterns I hope to inspire other makers to make their own accessories and home decorations. You can find my designs on LoveCrafts and Ravelry.
